Sports Complex “333” prepares world-class FIA karting track

In 2022, 333 will start a major reconstruction of the Big Kart Track. The long-awaited changes are a great opportunity to develop and strengthen motorised sports in Latvia and, in the future, at International level.

After 19 years of the existence of the Grande Karting Track, the Sports Complex “333” is starting extensive reconstruction works. Dozens of different types of equipment are involved in the renovation.

The design of the new track foresees a complete reconfiguration with a new asphalt surface on all existing sections of the track. The new configuration will significantly change the track’s dynamics, including the terrain, making it the fastest karting track in Latvia.

The FIA karting track configuration is 1340 m long (instead of the previous 1200 m), with 15 designated corners, of which seven right turns and eight left turns. One of the most spectacular corner sections will also include a 6% banking.

The reconstruction of the track and its project is a complex and nuanced process – it involves a lot of responsibility and constant control of the work process, but we work in such a way that the result is pleasing to the athletes, sustainable and of the best quality“, says Elvijs Švāģeris, track manager of the Sports Complex “333”.

In parallel, the track is also being built for other disciplines, including PRO class drift cars. The new track will also include a 200-metre long drag racing straight, 15 metres wide.

Reconstruction is being carried out in line with the latest FIA quality standards to enable it to host world-class karting events. The track will also be available for training in various motor sports (karting/moto/auto) and daily driving of 333 rental karts.
